Almost 365 #1
Many people run a 365 photo challenge, not me, not that organised, so here goes an "Almost 365 Challenge" lol
This photo tells me something. There is a lot going on, multiple narratives, vying for my attention.
I took it whilst out on a long circular walk with my wife Tina this week, we covered 10k in 2 hours. The route took us from our home in Spencers Wood Berkshire, down through Three-mile Cross (interesting names these villages have, that is a topic for another time). Then up over the motorway via the fascinating foot bridge onto the road leading to the Madjelski Stadium and Green Park.
Walking through Green Park, we found our way out to the bridge that took us back over the M4 and back into the countryside.
So in this picture we see how the rural world meets it’s urban neighbour. The motorway providing something of a divider between the two.
You see a lot of dead skeletal trees around the country and there are some impressive ones around here. In fact it warrants a photo exploration project of it’s own. How it came to die, I don’t know, is this an indicator of climate change or another reason?
Just to the right is a field of white poppies, Opium farming for the pharmaceutical industry. Perhaps has some connection with the company Bayer who have offices in Green Park? We found more poppy fields as we kept on walking, acres and acres, perhaps best described as hectares of them.
In the background is the famous power turbine, provided by the company Ecotricity, a fabulous landmark for many of our walks around the area!
