Experimenting with the OXI Coral and AUM
Using AUM as the mixer and recorder for my modular experiments
I really must write more about my exploration of sound design, synthesis, music and all that, especially now that I’ve started to learn more about modular synthesisers by actually beginning to build one of my own. It’s a fun process.
Right now the setup is small, the OXI One Sequencer for programming and or performing whatever I hook up to it and in my case right now that is my modular rack, small as it is, with just the one module, the OXI Coral which is one powerful polysynth, heavily based on Mutable Instrument’s (sadly now defunct) legendary Plaits module.
I feel like I’ve only scraped the surface of what is possible with this module, it’s a deep and sophisticated piece of gear.
Currently I’ve got this hooked up to AUM for mixing, adding my microphone for when I record Podcasts.
The thing is, I want to keep practicing with it and sharing the fruits of my labour with you all via Soundcloud because this opens up my work to people using Soundcloud as a way of learning more about different synths etc; I know I do,
Each day or so, I have a little jam and come up with a short composition and then create some variations to explore possibilities. The last 2 of these playlist tracks, I’ve added some effects within AUM to spice them up in different ways. Lots of fun!
