Monday night Ableton
This evening I returned to an old friend, Ableton Live Suite and played around with Scaler2 and Arturias synth collection
OK it’s Wednesday but I started this post off on Monday and it was getting very late into the evening. Anyway, the ink has now dried, here we go…
Pigments
I was looking to create an orchestral piece, maybe something for a film, not that I write scores per se, I love a chord progression though based around a cinematic uplifting Motif. This is what I came up with.
It’s a sequence of D min, F maj, Gmin, Cmaj, B flat major, Gmin, Amin, Dmin and repeat. The instrument I used here was Arturia’s Pigments synth with the Dark Real Strings preset for the sound.
Quite often I find presets boring but Arturia have come up some very inspiring sounds. However I will explore the synth in greater depth to create my own soundscapes.
Analog Lab Intro
I am enjoying this particular piece of software that I got for Free with the Keystep Pro I wrote about in an earlier post I shared. Pigments, on the other hand I bought in the current Black Friday deal and I am tempted to buy their full collection because if the Analog Lab Intro is anything to go by, wow, there are some awe inspiring presets in there and they can all be edited in the full version to make them your own.
One of my favourite presets was one called “Sadness Waves” based on the Open Matrix synth, plenty of modwheel and pitch bend on this one.
It’s pretty mad isn’t it? but that’s all part of the fun, creating sounds that are truly unique and could be used in a variety of contexts.
I’ll be digging deeper into Arturia’s synth collection and other stuff over the coming days, plus been having fun preparing some artist showcases for you. Plenty of great music to discover out there.
Finally…
If you are an Arturia user, you can get further discounts at the moment on many of their products. I’m going to be taking them up on those.
Some future experiments will be to make full use of the Keystep Pro’s sequencing features with these sounds, to come up with some compositions.
