Photo Thursday: Jampot
Every Thursday, I pick a photo from my archives, some recent, some from the distant past and I shall write just a few words about them. Simple!
Known affectionately as “Jampot” by it’s patrons, this Pub is tucked away down St Michael’s Alley, close to Monument and amongst some of the best preserved Medieval areas of London. The Jamaica Wine House is divided into two parts, one floor you’ll find a classic London pub and in the basement is a dedicated wine bar, Todd’s bar.
This red sandstone building dates back to 1869 but long before this pub came to be, stood a coffee house that opened in 1652 which counted Samuel Pepys as one of it’s many patrons of the time.
P.S. We didn’t stop for a drink here on the day but I’ve earmarked it for the future!
