I have owned the Yamaha Seqtrak for awhile now and was concerned that I wasn’t using it a great deal compared to other gear that I’ve got and recently I bought an instrument I have been itching to get for absolutely ages, as it turns out maybe two or three years to be exact and that is the Torso T1 sequencer, see photo below of the two paired up.
I have also got my good old Roland S-1 there too but strangely it’s battery conked out just before I recorded this. Sometimes you set something up, one or two voices, perhaps more and they sound great straight off the bat. That was the case here and so I went with it, improvising with the Torso, changing the patterns on the fly and there is a lot of depth to the device, some very complex sequences can be created and I feel that there are paths you can learn to get pretty much what you want and also total randomness when yo want it. That’s what makes this tool as great for composition as for jamming live.
I have quite a few systems I can try it with both on the DAW and DAWless.
