The Koalaverse
Koala sampler has just launched a great new feature, opening up a new library of samples and sound toys, let me show you around one of them
I was excited today to learn that Elf audio have just launched a new sound hub called Koalaverse, which launches with three in-app purchase sample packs for £2.99 each, what’s really exciting though, is that they each come with a sound toy. I’ll explain in a moment and give you a demo.
Having updated Koala via the App Store, click on Samples in the bottom right corner. To open up the sidebar, because it’s from here you‘ll discover the gateway to some fabulous new sounds and other new features.
Ah ha, there you are, click on get more samples.
I really should get an Apple Pencil, my annotations look sloppy but I hope you like this approach?
So we have three interesting packs to choose from and for today, I’m going to explore the first one, Analog Astronaut. Let’s go! To the moon! Well not quite, that sounds like something Melon Usk would say.
Now that I’ve purchased the Astronaut pack, let’s check out some of the samples.
The first of the sound toys I’m going to share with you is Valis, it’s a cool sound generator that you can use as demonstrated in the video below.
I simply clicked on the dice icon a number of times to find sounds that I liked and recorded them to pads on the sampler. You can enter numbers directly into the text box too. It’s a lot of fun and handy for creating fresh sounds.
Moving on let’s have a play around with some of the samples in this pack to complete our new Koala project and wrap up today’s post.
This is ridiculously good fun, I made use of the quirky sounds I made with Valis, added a selection of samples from the pack and ended up with this little sketch. Will be fun to hook up with the SP404 at another point in time.
Hope you enjoyed this format, I fancy sharing other apps with you in the same way in the future.
