Week #9 - It's the people that count
We all draw inspiration from others, so the focus this week is on them
Welcome back to my ongoing diary of sound experiments, better known as the Modulations newsletter. I’ve recently been using my programming background and knowledge to reason about the Poly Grid in Bitwig, the modular building tool.
It’s a complex beast but there are some incredible things you can do with it, so let’s tuck in. I am looking at creating a set of constructs to use in multiple projects, which will include tools for randomising melodies and I was inspired to take this approach when I read Bad Diode’s Blog on Bitwig.
On Soundcloud
Soundcloud has been fantastic this week, I have had 60 plays, mainly thanks to these two short track ideas I posted there. I quite like posting “incomplete” songs there as a way of getting some feedback on what works, what I should focus on, the tracks I could develop further given time and enough ideas.
I used a Max for Live plugin for the above called Chordimist which is rather fantastic, worth checking out but it’s $49 - well spent, I think I will use it as often as I do Supermassive!
This second track was created in Bitwig using a number of stock samples and follow actions in the clip launcher. I think a video would explain this better or even a live stream type thing.
YouTube haunts
There are many interesting creators on Youtube of course, I have learnt a lot from them all and some of their ideas undoubtedly spill over into mine

Coming up
Apologies for this being a bit short, I’ve had a busy week and not enough time to really polish this one off as much as I’d like to. I hope you find some value in the shared content though?
