My sonic log series, started at some point last year and they simply chart my musical sketches, little ideas, occasionally bigger ones that get released as tracks on Soundcloud. You guys get to see and hear them first. I also hope this might help people who wish to learn more about making music on the iPad. That is my long term goal here.
AUM is the main music app as ever. This one features two Soundbox instances, one Chord Generator and one Harmony Bloom with some effects applied. The effects are Revolv and K7D.
Helium drives both Harmony bloom and chord generator
Chord Generator
This plugin is very similar to ChordJam by Audiomodern but does have some differences. I will be taking some deeper dives into how it works over the coming week or so. It is a great partner for Soundbox (see below) and helps develop/explore many interesting chord progressions and ways of playing the chords, for example it supports strumming and you have complete control over that.
Soundbox
An incredible new sample library and player has come to the iPad from the desktop world, with many people comparing it to Kontakt, the behemoth of sound that has been in existence now for decades, released in conjunction with a range of MIDI keyboards. It is possible to create your own sample packs, that you can distribute online for other people to buy or download freely, whatever you choose to do. Again. I really would like to write some deeper guides on using it, perhaps in conjunction with paid subscriptions here.
