Hi Nick, like you I was at the launch party last night. I was not one of our so talented Q121 performers but had the privilege of being a helper and "roadie" at Q121 during the rehearsals and live recordings so got to experience the incredible acoustics of the venue which I was able to explore at home using the convolution reverb files MODCAF provided us. Listening last night highlighted to me how the artist's sound or layers of their sound were sometimes controlled by Q121 rather than the artist themselves and at other times the artist was in control of Q121. Mesmerizing.
I think that is a very interesting point. The venue itself was an instrument or effect pedal in it's own way and added colour to the music. Sam described his piece as sounding utterly crap at home but in the Chamber, it took on a whole new form.
As Sam mentioned, the dry versions sound hilarious! I say that not to disparage the artists, but rather praise them for answering the challenge of 'use this space as an instrument' to such spectacular effect!
It was a great experience listening on such a great sound system at the Westie last night and it makes you realise how valuable reverb, especially convolution with so many frequency responses at play; are instrumental in that outcome.

Great night and thanks for the beer!

I’m really proud for the artists.
Thank you so much for your support, Nick! :)
