I’ve been a big fan of the iPad and its audio prowess for a number of years. The best app around for exploring musical ideas and effects with is the mixer app, AUM and pair it up with a number of AUv3 plugins, you’ve got a setup that rivals many alternatives out there.

In today’s glitch jam, you’ll see me open them up and show you around a little bit, we have in no particular order.

The newest tool in the box, is MuseBud developed by Cem Olcay which is providing the MIDI sequence data for the performance, this is fed through to the VAPoly16 synth and Drumcomputer. Musebud is a generative MIDI tool, in which I’ve programmed it’s boundaries for octave selection, scales, velocities etc etc, it’s pretty deep.

The VAPoly 16 which is a bitimbral polysynth, is being routed through two reverbs, the Cascade (which also has a lot of diffusion tools) and Eos 2 a more classic reverb.

Drumcomputer has a very glitchy kit selected, which in turn is being routed periodically through Replicant and Glitchcore to break up the beats, to create staccato effects and occasionally to reverse the beats in real time. This is where these effects can become very performative and I use Replicant right at the end to phase out the polysynth, before I fade it out to close the track.
