Groove rider 2 - completed a track!

Now this app is a great tool for starting and finishing things with!

I’ve been getting accustomed to the new Groove rider 2 app, which is available for iPad only at this stage. I love it, it’s deep, has a lot of features and a fantastic workflow based around two or three possible ways of writing your songs. The approach I’m already familiar with on Ableton and Bitwig for example, where you build up clips, individual components of a song and then trigger them in different sequences, perhaps using a launchpad or in the case of the iPad, it’s screen. You build up the arrangement and then you can go into that to edit some more, dropping notes here and there, to create variety, bridges, middle eights, builds and all of those things that give a song its ebb and flow.

This song uses just a few different instruments with some simple chord arrangements, one central melody that, I created a few variations for and some other bits. Drums are very simple.

I could go on to make it more complex but sometimes, just leave it, just leave it at that, it’s cool to do that you know!

If you want to play this track on Soundcloud, you can, I’ve uploaded it!
